It's the same font actually, for some reason Inkscape started rendering it differently, better imho :p. Feel free to make a comparison chart using different fonts/styles, then we can just pick the one that looks best.
The current one is Varsity (http://www.fontstock.net/2/varsity-regular001001.html).
Note that, to us Europeans, Football looks very outerworldly and futuristic.

By the way, the fact that it's called "Varsity" means that it really is a football font.
