Title: New forum theme
Post by: Ingar on 2011-01-09 15:57:44
As you might have noticed, we're in the process of setting up a forum for Project::OSiRiON. I'm editing
the forum theme to have it match the layout of the new main site, so far it seems to come along nicely.

I like it! But then again smileys hate dark backgrounds...  :(

Looks nice! Only took five minutes to load on dialup; not quite a record for brevity, but close. But where's the obligatory icons that say "Supertanker is great" posted everywhere? :<

It says so here (http://osirion.org/index.php?page=development), but I still need to setup forum user groups. *

* I made a Developer group and assigned it accordingly.

I added the site navigation menu to the forum header. I wanted the spaceship logo to be larger
and sit on top of the navigation bar, but some browsers just don't want to display it correctly.

The current layout should work though.

It's nice but I don't really like Documentation and Tracker taking you away and not providing links back. (Tracker I can understand though)

I still have to look into the tracker theme, if possible I'll change that too. The documentation
is a different problem; I wanted to discuss it anyway so now might be a good time to bring it up.

The documentation is the same as the one in the source code. I always distribute the documentation
with every release so nobody could use not reading it as an excuse for questions. This is also the reason
why the layout of the documentation is rather sober: it doesn't use any fancy web technologies.

I'd like a simple solution for the documentation, preferebly one that makes it possible to keep an
offline copy of it with releases. The alternative would be to add a wiki to the site, move everything
there and forget about offline docs.

I think the best way might be to have both a wiki and offline documentation. The offline documentation should come with 'player necessities' such as use of the console, player guide, and gameplay information.

Everything in the local docs should be cloned on the wiki, then have the wiki expanded into the main 'knowledge base'. That is, it contains everything from descriptions on every cmd/cvar, to tutorials on editing the universe.
